Hangul is the alphabet of the Korean language, created in the 15th century by King Sejong. Modern Hangul is composed of 24 letters and is written in syllabic blocks with each letter placed vertically and horizontally into a square dimension. Each letter represents a specific sound that can be pronounced phonetically even if the word is unknown to the speaker.

In this project, the objective was to introduce Hangul in a way that makes it easier for people to learn the language and its structure. The challenge I faced was how to combine simplicity, elegance, and efficiency by using a typeface that reflects traditional beauty.

This project is a reflection of the Korean design of the past. It showcased the five traditional Korean colors known as Obangsaek; red, blue, yellow, black, and white. They represent the five elements and directions. The use of Sabon font gave it an old-style look that reflected Hangul's traditional beauty. The layout was kept clean with a focus on the text, which highlights Korean culture and its history.
